CLUE is a pilot program for young adults with disability. It was designed in consultation with the students and their families who were looking for a program that balanced both education and lifestyle and that offered the opportunity to learn and socialise with their peers.
Students participate with their peers, in a range of activities, both centre based and in the community, which foster independence, social skills, learning and development in the following areas -
- Communication
- Literacy
- Technology
- Health and physical activity
- Creativity
- Current affairs
- Independent living
- Community access
- Budgeting and money handling
- Time management
- Work readiness
The physical activity and creativity elements utilise community / sporting programs as well as specialist teachers.
Location: Windsor, within walking distance of trains and buses
Duration: 2 days per week, 9.00am – 3.00pm, 4 terms per year, 40 weeks per year, for 1 year
Number of students: a maximum of 10, depending on the level of support needed by the students
Staff: Trained teachers and support staff
Students: Young adults aged between 18 and 30 with intellectual disability
